Profile (Career Summary)

Prof. Yanaga graduated from Kyushu University, was licensed in both Japan and US, and is a Professor of Surgery at the Graduate School, International University of Health & Welfare (Fukuoka Campus) and Professor Emeritus of The Jikei University School of Medicine, Tokyo. Internationally, he is a member of the Academy of Master Surgeons Educators, an Executive Member of the International Relations Committee (IRC) and the Immediate Past-Governor-at-large as well as the President of the Japan Chapter of ACS, and serves as the Chair of the IRC of the Society of Surgery of the Alimentary Tract. Domestically, he is the President of the Japanese College of Surgeons and an Honorary President of the Japanese Society of Gastroenterological Surgery.

Message to Students

Based on long-term commitment to basic and clinical research of Digestive Surgery, the most important point for graduate students to achieve successful outcome is to engage yourself in research originating from your own interest. I will try to support your research interest to solve clinically unsolved issues and to develop presentation skills and to publish original articles.

Research Theme

Clinical research in the field of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, especially on surgical stress, surgical techniques and perioperative patient care.
