Translational research ranging from basic to clinical studies in cardiovascular medicine, especially in the following fields; ischemic heart disease (angina, myocardial infarction), heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, vascular biology, atherosclerosis, and innovative medicine with sound waves, etc.

Message to Students

I am a cardiologist, specialized in ischemic heart disease and heart failure. The cardiovascular system is one of the most important systems for our lives and its importance has been increasing in the current super-aging society. For the last 40 years, I have been performing the translational research ranging from basic research to clinical research in order to address the important questions in the clinical setting. In addition, since I have a long experience as the director of clinical research institute at Tohoku University Hospital, I am familiar with clinical studies. Furthermore, I have been developing innovative medicine with sounds waves for the last 20 years, focusing on their attractive capacities to enhance our self-healing capabilities, for the treatment of angina and dementia. You are all welcome to work with me to elucidate the pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease and to develop innovative medicine.
